The land we farm is our greatest asset and we take every precaution to nurture and protect it. We’re small but mindfully farmed. Our philosophy of minimal intervention in the vineyards and practicing traditional techniques translates to our winemaking focus where we only craft wines from grapes we grow ourselves at Bell Mountain vineyard.

Bell Mountain is the heart of everything we do at Medlock Ames. In the spirit of preservation and sustainability, we leave the majority of our 338 acres in its natural state. The working estate includes 44 acres of vineyards, 650 olive trees, an orchard, and a market garden for seasonal vegetables and flowers, along with our elegent and energy-efficient winery and barrel cellar.

Medlock Ames’ tasting room is a reimagined century-old landmark at the intersection of California Highway 128 and Alexander Valley Road, just north of Healdsburg. Tastings here take place under a portico covered with grape vines or in the olive grove.

Here's a cool detail in one of the outdoor picnic tables. This is Medlock Ames' refreshingly graphic and understated wine label. In the background is a pizza oven; on weekends they fire it up and pass out pies to visitors. The dough and sauce is home-made, and the toppings all come from the garden on site.
