Knight-Hennessy Scholars cultivates and supports a multidisciplinary and multicultural community of graduate students from across Stanford University, and delivers engaging experiences that prepare graduates to be visionary, courageous, and collaborative leaders who address complex challenges facing the world.

Leadership Development. Funded by a generous gift from Dorothy and Robert King, MBA ’60, the King Global Leadership Program (KGLP) provides a diverse menu of offerings that scholars tune to meet their academic schedules and leadership goals. The Kings' contribution provides support for the leadership development programming for Knight-Hennessy Scholars.

The Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program is looking for candidates who can prove that they “out think, out work, and out care” in their ambitions and efforts. Eligibility. Knight-Hennessy Scholars has no restrictions based on age, college or university, field of study, or career aspiration. We encourage citizens and residents of all countries to apply. We do not require applicants to seek endorsements from colleges, universities, or other institutions. There are two baseline eligibility requirements.

The scholars in the 2022 cohort come from 27 countries, including the first scholars from Belgium, Jamaica, Japan, Libya, North Macedonia, Peru, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, South Africa, Tanzania, and Vietnam. They have earned degrees from 42 institutions, including 13 outside of the United States.

Scholar-Driven Events - Scholars design and lead a variety of scholar-driven events. Examples include Deep Dive, where one scholar interviews another about their life journey in a caring and supportive environment; KH Geographic, where scholars share information about their home country; and panel discussions on topical issues, such as criminal justice reform or the national COVID-19 response.
